Fox Valley Tanning is proud of the Mountain West heritage of tanning domestic and wild animals that are indigenous to our area. We select only the best deer, elk, and moose hides from the Mountain West and throughout the United States and Canada.

During the year, the tannery purchases sheep and goat hides that are also processed throughout the year. Soft domestic leathers are sold for a variety of purposes, ranging from craft and glove making to high-end apparel manufacturing.

Buffalo and cow leathers are also among the many types of soft leathers we produce. Every summer, we purchase summer buffalo hides as well as cow and bull hides to be processed into our soft-tanned leathers. Buffalo is unique and generally easy to distinguish from cowhide. It has a pebble grain that is sought after by artisans and manufacturers who want a unique look to their products. Our popular buffalo leather is used in many applications, including furniture, garments, and shoe products. Much of our soft cow leather is used in chaps and apparel products and for upholstery purposes.
